"Thailand is the largest market for trucks in the world of medium size, so this was the perfect place to publicize our new Colorado," said Susan Docherty, vice president of GMIO Sales, Marketing and Aftersales. "The trucks were part of Chevrolet's base for almost all of its 100 year history.'s Chevrolet Colorado reinforces that heritage with expressive design, refinement and the ability to compromise."
The show truck has an elongated body of the car at the top of a high position wheel drive chassis and travels in large 20-inch wheels and tires off-road. Power comes from an efficient 2.8L turbo-diesel, which produces a wide band of torque for excellent load and towing capacity.
Even if the new Chevrolet Colorado was developed within the overall organization of GM products development, the engineers have done carefully so as to reflect the needs of the local market. Roberto Rempel, GM's global vehicle chief engineer, has lived in Thailand for several months during the development of the car, plunging the market, and observing how the Thai people are using trucks and road conditions they experience.
"The pills are central to the dynamism of the Thai economy and the owners are very proud of their trucks, which are used for work and personal conduct," he said. "These customers require a lot of their trucks, so the powertrain and chassis must be very hard to earn your trust - and that's exactly what we delivered."
